1,650MW Installed Capacity Dam
A 1,650MW installed capacity dam, with rated average annual output of 8,762.4 GWh, including navigation locks, ship-lifts and fish passages Switchyard and Transmission Line and Substation facilities for power evacuation into the national grid.
Resettlement & Compensation
Of displaced populations [with livelihoods restoration and improvement as core principles] and provision for in-like or improved replacement of economic assets [farmlands, grazing pastures, markets, dwellings, civic buildings, etc.] in the reservoir catchment.
Replacement of Public Infrastructures
Buildings and Cultural Assets, especially the new $200 million bridge under construction over the Benue River at Ibi on the Wukari to Jos highway.
Provision of Flood Control
Provision of flood control facilities and infrastructures to mitigate the adverse impacts of seasonal flooding in the Benue River basin.
Provision of Facilities
Provision of facilities for the delivery and utilization of water from the dam reservoir that is not required for the production of electric power, for example, in irrigation and urban water supply.
Provision of Facilities
Provision of facilities for river navigation to increase and improve marine transportation on the river.
Creation of Opportunities
Creation of opportunities for development of fisheries and other economic activities on the lake or reservoir such as tourism.
Avoidance of CO2 Emissions
Avoidance of emission of over 4.5 million tons of CO₂ per annum.
